Spain is one of the top destinations in the world for golf enthusiasts, offering a wide range of world-class courses and unforgettable golf holidays. The country’s golf industry is continuously growing, and golf in Spain investments are becoming increasingly popular. One of the latest exciting initiatives is the planned asset of one hundred million euros into the San Roque II Municipal Golf Course in Costa de la Luz, southwestern Spain.

Berwick Real Estate, the new concessionaire, plans to modernise and improve the course, adding a new clubhouse, a modern driving range, and a hotel with a capacity of 100 rooms. This investment will revitalise San Roque II and generate considerable economic benefits for the local community and the region’s sustainable development, according to the investors and also communicated by the prestigious site www.golfindustria.es.

The original design belongs to Perry Dye (son of famous architect Pete Dye), who worked in collaboration with Severiano Ballesteros. The course extends over 45 hectares and is characterised by the size of its greens and the challenge offered by the strategically located bunkers.

With an innovative approach, the investors promise to transform the playing experience, attract local and international golfers, and solidify the course’s reputation as a world-class golf destination.

Its gastronomy is world-famous, and fresh seafood, local fish, and authentic tapas are an integral part of the gastronomy experienced by those looking for Spain golf holidays.

This tourism boost will generate significant economic benefits for the local community and the region’s sustainable development, as highlighted by the mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix. The project promises to boost the economy, generate employment and reinforce the reputation of golf in Costa de la Luz as a vibrant and modern destination. Without a doubt, this is one of the many good news we will have this season about golf in Spain investments.

Recently, the golf course of La Hacienda Links Golf Resort was honoured with the title of ‘Best Golf Course in Spain’ at the tenth World Golf Awards. This accolade acknowledges the significant investment by Millennium Hospitality’s owners following a transformative renovation spearheaded by architect Kurtis Bowman.

Highlighting excellence in golf tourism, this year’s World Golf Awards convened industry luminaries from over sixty-five nations spanning Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, North America, and Oceania.

“We’re immensely proud of this recognition. It underscores the outstanding efforts of the entire La Hacienda team and Kurtis Bowman’s vision, resulting in one of southern Europe’s most distinctive courses. The allure of our landscapes, greens, bunkers, and panoramic vistas is undeniable,” enthused Javier Illán, president of Millennium Hospitality Real Estate.

This accolade caps off a remarkable year for Links de La Hacienda, following its recognition in Golf Inc.’s esteemed ‘Renewal of the Year’ competition for its par 72 design.

“This achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication of the Millennium Hospitality Group, notably our president, Javier Illán. From the outset, he envisioned positioning the resort among Spain and Europe’s elite. Recognising the resort’s potential, we’ve not only revamped our flagship Links but also introduced a rebrand. Next summer heralds the inauguration of the Fairmont La Hacienda, a luxury accommodation that promises to amplify regional tourism,” remarked Javier Jiménez-Casquet, general manager of La Hacienda Links Golf Resort.

Integral to the resort’s comprehensive overhaul was Bowman’s role in refining hole designs, landscape aesthetics, and golf sustainability measures, making it one of the most remarkable golf courses in the Seville and Cadiz area.

Collaborating with constructors GTM Golf and Garden & Golf, the endeavour encompassed tee, green complex, and bunker renovations, along with hole redesigns. These enhancements signify Links’ ascent as a burgeoning powerhouse in European golf over the past year and the star of a full remodel across the resort, becoming a fantastic opportunity for a golf break in Andalusia.

Beyond reviving the Links course and its clubhouse, the resort’s 36-hole enclave has introduced myriad enhancements to its golf and recreational offerings. This includes augmenting the eighteen-hole Heathland course. Furthermore, introducing updated accommodation packages and a transition house for Links players augments the resort’s allure. Looking ahead, La Hacienda is poised to inaugurate the Fairmont Hotel and a 213-room villa complex in 2024, solidifying its ambition to stand as Spain’s premier luxury golf destination holiday in Seville and Cádiz surrounding areas.
